Data indicates that the percentage of individuals choosing contact lenses as a vision correction option has continued to grow over the past two decades.  In 1980, this percentage was 11%, by 1990 it had grown to 17% and by the year 2000 the percentage stood at 22%.  As new contact lens designs, along with advanced materials and production methods are developed during the next decade, this percentage will likely continue to grow.
